HONDA

Honda was developing a replacement for the NSX in the 2000s, but the road car was canceled due to the economic downturn. Thankfully, the race car wasn’t.

Welcome to Better Than Coffee, your daily dose of car sounds designed to help you kick that caffeine habit.

The car, the HSV-010, was a lot different than the original NSX. It was fr0nt-engined, with the road car rumored to have a V10 under the hood. When Honda canceled the road car project, it was decided to use the canceled car to replace the NSX in JGTC competition, which was allowed thanks to a bit of a rules loophole that lets “production ready” cars compete, even if they aren’t built.

The race car used a V8 from Formula Nippon. And it sounds unreal. Doesn’t hurt that it also looks amazing.
