THIS JAGUAR HYPERCAR CONCEPT IS EXACTLY THE CAR WE WANT TO SEE IN 2040

Concept cars come and go, festooning a company’s design office with glory and showcasing what a talented group of guys with rendering software can come up with. Practicalities go out the window, proportions become extreme and the word ‘compromise’ simply doesn’t exist.

Jaguar has come up with some striking concepts in the past but this spectacular piece of work has been penned by William Baude, a French product designer. Known as the ‘Jaguar Hypercar Rebirth’, this elongated, low slung stunner has hints of Jag, Aston Martin Vulcan and GTE racer moulded into an intimidatingly elegant package that is bound to get British motoring fans more than a bit excited.

Following the rules of thirds in terms of proportions, the long bonnet becomes windscreenless, continuing onto a rear-biased cockpit. Along with a geometric front diffuser, aero is a focus at the other end of the car, with a dramatic rear diffuser sitting beneath as extreme a rear wing as you’ll see.

What engine should be under that humongous bonnet? A 7.0-litre V12 like the Group C Jags of old?

A car that looks anything like this is probably at least a decade away but if Ian Callum (Jaguar’s Design Director) sees this, he may be able to push such a model in front of the board and get the ball rolling. It would make the perfect return to GT racing for Jag, especially at Le Mans, Jaguar’s old hunting ground.

In the meantime, what do you think about this hypercar concept? Is it ‘Jag’ enough for you or do you think Jaguars of the future should go down a different design path? Comment with your thoughts below!
